2009 Summer Games Opening Ceremonies
Barbara Lancaster with the Arizona Department of Corrections in Perryville was the highest fundraiser for 2008. Barbara was also joined by her Director, Charles Ryan who shared the honor of running in the Flame of Hope Torch during the Opening Ceremonies with Special Olympic's most inspirational athlete, Ron Allen. Several agencies across the valley were comprised of as "Guardian's of Flame" and led the Torch Run into Mesa Community College stadium, Friday, May 1st.
Chief Michael T. Frazier with the City of El Mirage and AZ LETR Honorary Chair presented the AZ LETR check to Special Olympics CEO and President, Tom Fraker. The check presented was in the amount of $463K! Way to go LETR!
